Trivia

Far from the Highway – Lesser-Known Facts

For years, the series Far from the Highway was considered a quiet social drama. In reality, it stirred up quite a stir. Here are the most interesting facts and behind-the-scenes details that give this production a completely different dimension.

Behind the Scenes of the Series

The series is based on a novel.

The main characters were Anna and Leszek (Lechosław) Uciński. Leszek

During his technical school days, he wrote an essay on "My Way to School," which his Polish teacher, Henryk Czarnecki, included in his book "Professor na drodze," which was read by director Zbigniew Chmielewski.

The title was chosen only at the end.

Other suggestions were considered. Ultimately, it was decided that "Far from the Highway" best captured the essence of the protagonist's life journey.

Characters That Divided Viewers

Leszek and Anna

Leszek Teleszyński played the lead role. Some viewers admired the protagonist's ambition. Others criticized him for distancing himself from his roots. Opinions were also divided on the character of Irena Szewczyk. Some saw her as a modern woman and a supporter of Leszek. Others considered her too demanding.

Production Errors

Name Change

The series creators' inconsistency concerns the name of Leszek's brother. In the early episodes, he is listed as Włodek, while in the final episode, it is Władek.

Chronological Discrepancies

In episode 1, Leszek is an assistant to a traveling salesman. At that time, he would have been around 15 years old, so it should be assumed that the year is approximately 1960, considering the character was born in 1945. A Star 28 truck, whose production began in 1968, is parked in the scrapyard, unloading cargo.

In episode 4, a poster with the words "SZSP" (School of Special Forces) is visible in the University of Lodz building, created in 1973. Leszek would have been 28 years old then.
